A Take on Racism

03 MAY 2020 - 12:30 P.M.

Oakland, CA - Racism has existed throughout human history. It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another or the belief that another person is less than human because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes. During the past 500-1000 years, racism on the part of Western powers toward non-Westerners has had a far more significant impact on history than any other form of racism such as racism among Western groups or among Easterners, such as Asians, Africans, and others. The most notorious example of racism by the West has been slavery, particularly the enslavement of Africans in the New World slavery itself dates back thousands of years. This enslavement was accomplished because of the racist belief that Black Africans were less fully human than white Europeans and their descendants. Why do you think there is a lot of Racism nowadays? Well if you really think about it there’s a lot of people that don’t respect each other. And when I mean by that is that some African Americans think that us the people around them don’t like color people because of what has happened in the pass with all the slavery well now most of us we don’t show respect towards each other in many ways. The first example is when we go toa grocery store we are fighting with each other or be racist to each other. Many Americans ask themselves how this could have happened in the past in America about all the racism. The thing is that people don't understand that all of this unfair racism thing should stay in the past to be able to live in a happy and fair place where we all have the same rights as anybody else. And we should all understand that what happened in the past should stay in the past. In the past there were a lot of unfair rules. People were treated badly and they had no right to nothing. The only right they had was whatever the owner because in the past they were property of people. The African Americans had to through all of that and more but we don't know everything and they may know more than us because maybe they had family members in the pass that had to go threw this but it's not easy for them to be able to try to forget about the past and move on because they know that for sure they surferied and to be able to hold all of that bad things that they did to them and than know that they was nothing done until after time passed. That's why you for sure can say that Racism is now known as history that happened in the past and now we can learn what it means in many ways. We should all love each other and be strong to be able to one day get over it and understand that there is rights now and that we are all the same.
